Review on SportLite Action Sport Travel Microfiber by Laura Evans

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Smooth, soft, fade resistant and very absorbent

I bought the YogaRat Beach Towel (32" x 68") to use as a large but compact beach/pool towel. I'm 6ft 1in so wanted a large towel and like to travel light - if I can't fit it in my day pack it won't be with me. I chose and got the Ember/Sun color combo - mostly bright warm red with bright orange piping. I didn't have a color preference, but I found that bright colors were easy to spot by the pool or beach. Other customers have reported bleeding even after washing and drying. I don't know about other colors but Charcoal/Sun combo = no bleeding I washed and dried my towel with other similarly colored clothes as soon as I got it and a few days later I took it with me for a week-long trip to the beach. The first day I wore white board shorts and sat/laid on this towel for hours, wet and dry with no dye transfer. The second day I spread it out on a light gray chair and sat on it in a white cotton t-shirt. does not bleed at the end of the week no color transfer to anything even when washed with different lighter colors the towel itself is thin and soft to the touch but not like most microfibers. There is nothing "chubby or fluffy" in it. He's flat. It doesn't have that glossy "plastic feel" that some flat microfiber towels have. Instead, it almost feels like felt. But it absorbs water very well and is comfortable, at least for my skin. Strangely, it doesn't dry very quickly compared to other "terrycloth" towels. In the tumble dryer - no problem, but hanging or lying in the sun it stays damp for quite a long time. I suspect this is a consequence of its absorbency, which is designed to drain and hold water so it doesn't release water as easily. It was perfect for the beach. It's ridiculously compact. When folded, it is the size/thickness of an iPad. Rolled up, it's about the size of a 32-ounce water bottle. Open it up and 32 x 68 inches looks huge. As an added bonus, no sand will push through when you lie on it, and a light shake and the back is sand-free - no semaphore required like a ten-minute sandshake for looped terry towels. The fabric is smooth and doesn't stick. As for warmth, it's thin so doesn't feel like a fur coat and doesn't help keep you warm per se, BUT it blocks the wind well. All stitching, even the hanging loop (mine is turquoise) is of very good quality. I've only had it for a few weeks but expect it to work well in the long run. It may not be for everyone, but I personally like it!

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs
