Water repellent treated - will not absorb water Water repellent: I'm not kidding, they have a treatment that makes them water repellent. See attached photos. I have washed them several times, only with detergent. I don't dry them with fabric softener and I don't use washing machine programs. Other towels washed at the same time work like normal towels. They just don't absorb water. You can see in the photos. I poured some water on the counter and tried wiping it off with one of those towels. this is a joke Newspapers absorb more water than these. Softness: They are soft. This is NOT what you want for a towel. Softness does not equal absorbency. They don't have to be rough, of course, but any treatment that makes the cotton "softer" will also result in less absorbency. I have no doubt that they are chemically treated to make them softer and less absorbent. Lint Production: They also produce a large amount of lint, both in the dryer and when in use. see image. I sincerely think that the manufacturer could wash them, twist the pile into a thread and produce more towels. Loose Threads: Each towel has loose threads, snags, and what appears to be poor construction. I have a decent washer and dryer and have no issues with other towels. This is not a problem caused by the washer/dryer. Its bad quality. I have ordered 3 sets of 4 bath towels in different colors and 1 set of 4 towels, all of which have this edition. All return. I will never use the Utopia brand again. Pooh
