As a former bag maker I am very picky about leather and sewing. Both get A+ here. (There are also no chemical smells, as another reviewer noted. And I have a very sensitive nose.) Although I would have preferred oilier, vegetable-tanned leather. that can be easily written on for a lived-in look. it will wear well and develop a patina over time. The top of the bag has an unlined edge which gives the product a nice rustic look. Luckily, the straps are double-layered leather, stitched and strong. The beautiful square stitch at the base of each handle secures it to the bag and gives it a more expensive look. Another more expensive (not as well made) brand does X-stitches where the straps attach to the body of the bag and doesn't have double layered leather straps or straps that are sewn on - both are cheap. It's MUCH better quality. The designer also took care to sew the inner pocket with a zipper to the seams of the straps so that there are no extra random seams from the inner pocket on the bag body. In general, professional touches that make me very happy! I wish this came in dark wine or black or zipped up. I would buy them all! Great for the work bag. I will find the bag feels wider than the more vertical orientation of the Revain photos, but it fits my large laptop horizontally so I'm fine with that! :)
