I've found so many uses for these little things. I put rice powder in one to use on my face and they worked great for keeping the salt, pepper and garlic in when my husband had to go out of town. They are double sealed: there is a plastic insert with a hinge hole plug and then a hard plastic cap that screws on. One of the connectors broke when I tried to remove it to fill up, but this was my first time and I was probably too rough with it. Now I move something (a fingernail, a credit card) along the edge to lift it up a bit before pulling it out instead of pulling the connector.
