Product replaced by supplier, really good customer service.

Update from 03/23/2014: After my dongle died, the seller contacted me and sent me a new one free of charge. I understand that every electronic product can have a defect or stop working even without defects, but Utechsmart earned my business next time with excellent customer service. Update: 3/2/2014 with my mouse. I will stay away from this brand as much as possible! Bluetooth should be backward compatible between all versions! The only thing Bluetooth 4.0 introduces is support for collecting data from devices that generate data at a very low rate. The main purpose of this feature, called Low Energy (LE), is to combine data from different sensors like heart rate monitors, thermometers, etc. So I don't really need a Bluetooth 4.0 dongle. But Windows 8.1 stepped in. My Desktop is based on the Intel Desktop Motherboard LGA1155 DDR3 1600 ATX - BOXDZ77GA-70K that comes with Ralink/Motorola Bluetooth 2.1 EDR USB. The manufacturer does not provide a driver for this Bluetooth adapter, Windows uses the generic Bluetooth driver from Microsoft. For the most part, it seemed to work with whatever I added - speakers, headphones, etc., until I bought a Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse (H3S-00003) (Bluetooth 3.0). I love Windows 8.1 and really liked the mouse, but it wasn't meant to be. It shuts down randomly, becomes unbearably slow. So much so that I spent some extra money and bought a really crappy SmartTouch N800 (BLK) wireless mouse that was also touch sensitive, but it was another disaster. Internet forums seem to be full of complaints about horror stories about Bluetooth problems with Windows. 8. My search led me to the Broadcom BCM20702 chipset, which is currently the best Bluetooth chipset as it combines both the integrated Windows Bluetooth stack (on Windows 7 and Windows 8 with the low-level one provided automatically by Windows Update Broadcom HCI driver) supported ). , and the best third-party Bluetooth stack on the market from Broadcom for even broader Bluetooth profile support. So to get another chance with the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse (H3S-00003), I ordered this adapter because it was the cheapest adapter. with the Broadcom BCM20702 chipset on the market. The adapter comes in a typical plastic carrying case along with an instruction manual, a card with Utechsmart marketing/promotional messages and a CD with drivers. The adapter is really tiny, sticking out about 1/2 inch from the USB port when plugged in. There's a blue LED that lights up when it's plugged in - I don't think there's a way to turn it off, but since it's in my desktop PC under my desk I don't notice it. I'm currently using it with a driver that installed Windows 8.1 automatically and for the past 2 days my mouse has been working fine. What is there? I don't know, of course, but it must be something with the drivers in Windows 8.1. So, with this adapter I'm very happy that I can now use and enjoy my Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse Mouse (H3S-00003), at least until Windows 9 (or whatever) comes along and I can't control my urge to upgrade can. So, if you are using Windows 8/8.1 and having problems with your current Bluetooth adapter or just looking for a new Bluetooth adapter, this is the best bang for your buck right now.
