Should be a magnet - what is it for? In the end there is room to hang it on a closet or wall, so what's the point of a magnet? It only attaches to the front edge of my stainless steel stovetop, not to my cast iron skillet or grill. When attaching to a stainless steel plate, if I get too close to the plate I knock it off and it lands on the ground so the magnet isn't too strong. Interestingly, none of the other reviewers seem to have noticed this, but perhaps they didn't care. I only noticed this because I checked if what they said about it is true. The handle is too short as other reviewers have said; ideal for grills and other cast iron pans; however, its magnet is useless. Not a big problem and that's probably why nobody said anything about it. To be honest, when it comes to cleaning my grill, I use one of those little copper-colored hair ties; It's just easier to clean the grill/pan with it.
