I bought these to secure the fabric so it doesn't come loose from the screw, one on top and one on the bottom. It works great although I wish it was a little longer. The plastic ensures that the fabric is not damaged and is flexible enough for easy use. For the "studs" I use comic board for less than 2 yards and corrugated cardboard for 2 yards or more. I attach (to the clip) a small piece of paper that says how much fabric is on the stud and adjust that amount when I cut it so I always know how much I have left without rolling it all up and to have to measure. (Hope this helps.) I'll try to snap some pics next time I'm in the sewing shop.
