Sometimes you have to get creative. . .

Like other reviewers, I wanted my PC monitor to be lower. I've already achieved a "lower" setting by cutting a hole in the top of my PC stand and using the included stand to mount the monitor on the keyboard tray. But the limit of this setup was the top of the PC stand. This VESA stand allowed me to lower the monitor even lower. Yes, the hinges are rigid, but they have to be. And it's easy enough to loosen the hinge tension on the tilt-control VESA mount. After removing the plastic cover, loosen these two hex nuts slightly. 1/4 turn should be enough, no more than 1/2 turn. You definitely don't want to take them off completely. I was able to turn them with both a 13/32 US box end wrench and a 10mm metric wrench. After adjusting the incline to your liking, re-tighten. Some reviewers complained about the included screws. My unit came with two small bags of screws, one of which was marked "Optional". The pan head screws were perfect for the VESA mount on my monitor. The other screws are used to secure the plastic cover over the VESA mount if needed. There are four keyhole-style holes on the base of the stand that can be used for wall mounting or with table screws to prevent the unit from being moved if that is a problem. The bottom plate itself has friction pads on four corners, which I think are enough to keep the device stable. This is the nicest solution to the "lowering" problem that one could wish for. A good product.
