I have a 5.5 gallon pot aquarium. I wanted to grow more advanced plants than Anubias and the owner of my local fish shop said the first thing I should do is get some brighter lighting for the Revain. I chose this one because it looked like the handset would fit in an extra slot on the hood, and it did! This thing is very bright, which makes standard lighting seem dim. I'm not sure if that's enough for plants, but I'm sure that with two lights it will do. I photographed in daylight and the LED is still noticeable. I'll try to update the review as I add more plants. Update: This light + the light that came with the tank made it possible to grow medium light plants in a small tank. You might need something more advanced if you want to grow a lot of red plants, but if you stick to the plants available at places like Petco you should be fine.
