Review on 🎧 Bowers & Wilkins PI3 - Blue: Wireless In-Ear Headphones by Patricia Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Impressive sound quality and construction

As a former professional musician and longtime audiophile, I have long known B&W's reputation for quality audio products. But after looking at three different models of headphones and Beats headphones (all of which failed in less than a year... avoid Beats as The Plague!), I was looking for an affordable alternative when I came across an ad for these B&W headphones bumped. Although they are a bit more expensive than my BeatsX I saw a lot of positive reviews and based on those reviews and my knowledge of B&W as a great audio company in general I decided to take a chance and buy these more expensive headphones. This opportunity has paid off so far. I really liked these phones! I love all genres of music but most of all I love hard rock that keeps me going throughout the day. So I demand substantial bass response. And these headphones offer a very good balance of mids and highs. They are immediately ready for use and can be connected to my devices quickly and securely. B&W was smart enough to include a handy "cheat sheet" in the box that describes all the features and functions with clear illustrations. Very helpful. Battery life is pretty good too, especially considering the extra power needed for taller riders. I get a pretty consistent 8+ hour playtime from them. They also have an auto-shutoff feature that kicks in after a period of inactivity (30 minutes I think, but to be honest I've never timed it). This is a handy feature for me as I use it throughout the day and rarely forget to turn it off many times during the day when I can't wear it in my ears. This extends battery life. However, with such great sound, I'm a bit used to having big speakers (much bigger than my BeatsX) in my ears. I also had to experiment a bit with the different tips and fins needed to achieve the desired in-ear fit and optimal sound (especially with the heavier bass, which I love!). So if you don't mind experimenting with this sort of sound tweaking and customization experimentation for a week or so, I don't think you will be disappointed. Also, these phones were a bit more expensive when I was hooked and I hardly ever bought one. But while I was discussing the price, my wife, not very gently, reminded me how picky I am about sound quality and how I use my headphones ALL DAY EVERY DAY and that you get what you pay for. And she was right! The extra $$$ I've spent on them has been worth the investment so far (3 months). Only time will tell if their longevity is justified. But for now I'm sure.
