Weak and short-lived: under-cabinet lighting

I was thrilled when I first got it. However, the lighting was never really bright. After using it for about 15 minutes every day for 3 days, the remote completely stopped turning it on. Now 3 of the 5 I installed are dead. Brand new batteries that work in other devices but don't work. Don't waste your time.
