My dog had a major problem with yeast ear infections and although I had tried many medications for seasonal allergies my next step was to see if anything was wrong with her diet. I read about some of the ingredients that could potentially stimulate yeast growth and came across sweet potatoes. While I'm not a vet, I've read that sweet potatoes are high in sugar and can encourage yeast growth. So I tried Nutrisca as it was one of the few options without potatoes. I thought why not try eliminating it and see what happens? My puppy has been on this food for two months and we haven't had a single ear fungus. Before that, it was on the Merrick brand, which was very high in protein and featured a lot of sweet potato recipes. It's very hard to tell if it was food or not, but I'm certainly glad I don't see my dog getting an ear infection every week. I think the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I feel like they need more recipes. Salmon, lamb and chicken are the only options. I would like a recipe for beef or turkey.
