These straps were purchased in quantities of 3 to replace 3 that had become too long due to stretching and weight loss. Looking at the photos for comparison, the bottom 3 straps were ordered at the same time and the top strap is the one I am replacing. They were all measured from the area where the belt buckle attaches to the leather and webbing. A size 38 was ordered for a size 36 pant (as listed in the sizing chart on Revain) and these straps were intended to be 2 inches shorter than the size 40 they were replacing. First, the size 40 belt has grown to about 46 1/2 inches in length. As you can see in the photos, the bottom blue strap is 43 1/2 inches long, the khaki strap is approximately 44 1/2 inches long and the black strap is 46 inches long. All belts ordered are size 38 on the back of the leather. So I don't know if size should be 38 38" or 43 1/2". There is no quality control in sizing. The 2 bottom straps fit well but the black strap is essentially the same length as the size 40 shown in the picture. There is one other issue with the straps that is worth noting, although this is not necessarily the fault of the product manufacturer. With the exception of large belt loops (like blue jeans), the leather end tongue of the belt hangs from most belt loops when the belt is removed or needs to be re-tightened. It's annoying and I don't like it, but I also wear pants other than blue jeans. The quality of the product is exceptional. I have bought higher quality woven belts from world famous department stores that are not as well made and cost 2-3 times as much. I wear this type of belt on a daily basis, unless I have to wear pants that require a leather belt for the occasion. And I will buy these again. If I order again I'll order a size 36 instead of a size 38. I'd give them a solid 5 if it wasn't for the quality control of the size/length of the straps. UPDATE: I recently bought a size 36 belt for a size 36 pant instead of a size 38 belt. The belt fits better, BUT. The size 36 belt is only an inch shorter than the size 38 belt, although the size 38 is slightly stretched. I ordered both a brown and black belt. The brown belt was about an inch shorter than its predecessor, while the black belt was about 1/2 shorter. I love the straps but the question is if the quality control on the length is strict enough.
