Holds temperature very well. If you pour boiling water and close the lid, then you will not be able to drink in the first 2 hours. The first hour the mug stands with the lid open to somehow cool the drink. If you urgently need to leave for work, I close the lid and the tea remains hot when I return. I dropped the mug and no significant dents happened, only a little paint chipped off. She is worth her money. Recommend.
