Although it looks small, I get at least 4 cups of tea with it. You can fill it to the top because the spout is high. Be careful not to overfill the strainer as the tea will expand and be difficult to remove. I thought the strainer was tight but the bottom started to loosen, I think due to overflow. I contacted the seller to ask if I could get a new colander and they sent me a brand new pot! I was still within the return period but threw the box away. I don't heat the kettle on my stove, I heat the water separately in the kettle and then pour it into the kettle after the tea is in the teapot until it's full. I leave mine overnight because I love strong tea and need it ready when I wake up, but it doesn't have to be. I highly recommend this pan (and the seller).
