Love how they look! The plates and bowls in this set are larger than our previous plate and bowl set we had. They are lightweight but appear to be durable. The instructions say they can be washed in the "top shelf" dishwasher. Our plates don't fit on the top shelf, so we put them on the bottom one. They don't appear to be as glossy/dark black as they were straight out of the box. After just a few washes they appear to be darker. (This may be because we didn't put them on the top shelf). These plates are not microwave safe, which is a downside because sometimes it's nice to pop your plate in the microwave to warm up your food. Overall I like the plates as they are a good size and look very pretty. (I think it would be fun to also get a white set made up of half black plates/bowls and half white ones.)
