Made by gluing two CC foils into the case. Each slab is polished to a mirror finish. The surface quality is excellent with no visible defects. The reflectivity is as good as it gets, but remember that SS has less reflectivity than a true silver mirror. You lose about 15% of the light with SS. The panels are cut so there is distortion at the edges. About 1/8 inch all around you can see a lot of distortion. However, in the middle, away from the edges, it's flat enough to function as intended. It still has some visible distortion, but it's more than enough to shave, remove an eyelash, or find a dropped object if you're using it in a garage. The distortion makes it only marginally useful for distance and practically useless for anything off-axis, like looking around corners. Tension spring, and there is a noticeable lock when closing. Of course, since it is made of stainless steel, it is very durable, but since the plates are attached with glue, they can fall out. machine cut slabs, they would be much more useful without distortion.
