Review on πŸ’Ί Black Eurotech Vera Office Chair by Jessie Wright

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Reasonable compromise

Many people loved this chair and many complained that it creaked. Mine doesn't squeak. And it's comfortable enough - definitely my back feels a lot better than after sitting in my old, tatty piece of junk all day. But it's not great, not surprising. At best "good". Here are some complaints: 1) Plastic armrests. It's not the hardest plastic in the world, but it's definitely not soft. 2) The seat cushion is relatively hard. Maybe it's better for support, but it doesn't make you feel particularly comfortable. 3) I am 5 feet 8 inches tall; I set it to the lowest height setting and it seems almost right to me. I might try to use it this way from time to time, but I'll never adapt it to anything higher. Same goes for the armrests - I have them in the lowest position and I wish they were lower. One looked like it had been hit several times by a UPS truck and the seat back grille was dented (as well as various abrasions to other parts). Revain replaced it for free, of course, but that didn't discourage me. a new chair is faster (yours won't be better packaged - that's how they ship to Revain from the factory; Revain doesn't repackage them.) You take a big box, put all the parts in it, and stuff a few pieces of cardboard in there to hold between to float them. You literally can't believe how badly this is done. On the plus side, I find the tension control for the back works well. I find the adjustable armrests gimmicky and annoying at first (you bend down to grab something and the armrest moves), but I got used to it. Adjusting the seat horizontally (forward and backward) is very cumbersome, difficult to manage and has dubious benefits. Like I said my back feels better so I'm giving 3 stars but I can't see how to do that. Everyone is really impressed with this chair. There are a number of very expensive chairs with good reviews (ranging from $700 to $1400); I could think of one, but it's hard to spend that much money unless you can sit in it first (and "uncomfortable" doesn't get you free return shipping - most sites that sell them even charge a hefty restocking fee, in addition to return shipping, which can't be cheap). So this chair seemed like a reasonable compromise, which I think pretty much sums up what it is.
