One side is now embossed 5 years after purchase. These are WORK HORSES. Worth the cost per hour of operation. I wear the earbuds over 10 hours a day and they work well. The cable does not tangle and feels comfortable. They're not very easy to keep clean (things seem to get stuck in all those little cracks and crevices). The little mesh "filter" on them really fell off (I think body oils destroyed the glue after a while). ), so I replaced them with a very small piece of foam rubber for the headphone case just to keep earwax off the internal components. I can easily take it out and swap it out. The sound quality is excellent and they come with three sets of ear tips so you can customize them (even use different sizes to best fit each ear).
