I didn't know when I bought them that they were softer at the bottom than at the top. I looked for ones that are the same thickness on all sides, but they still worked well. When you need a little buoyancy, is that why there's extra padding at the bottom? I bought for my nursing bras because the pads that came with the bras were deformed and wrinkled. These hold up pretty well. I have several nursing bras and change them every day. They go straight into the wash, pads included, after a single use as they're sure to absorb some sweat and breast milk. A few pads are falling apart but I would say it's very good for almost 4 months of use. They don't warp or anything, just the outer layer peeling off. They can still be used but are more difficult to put on and take off.
