Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Lasko 5309 Digital Oscillating Tower Heater: Efficient Comfort with Electronic Controls by Juanita Valentin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Stable operation, the wire heats up a little.

Before deciding to trust this thing, I thoroughly tested it in the place where it is going to be used. This is my second winter of using it and it works great. I deduct a star for the heating wire behavior described below. The heater works very quietly and heats a small room well. The bedroom is 270 square meters. feet, it hardly heats up the room after hours. The bathroom is 70 square meters. Feet, it heats up quite a bit in just 10-15 minutes. Cables and plugs heat up slowly but noticeably at MAX. It never gets hot enough that I'm concerned about damage, but the fact that it gets hot at all leads me to suspect something is wrong, but maybe it's just pulling heat from the element, in which case it's my concern and Zvezda docking is not guaranteed. The wire appears to be a high quality, UL listed Unirise brand 16AWG heating wire, which is rated at just over the 12.5A rating. While it's not small, it doesn't leave much room for manoeuvre. If the heater isn't malfunctioning and is drawing a lot more than it should, the wire size isn't the cause of the heat. There is no ground connection, but since the heater is fairly well covered in plastic, this isn't necessary. Listen. The circuit you want to use for this is fine! It's not uncommon to have 4 outlets with a 14AWG cord in the same room. If you have a TV, computer, aquarium light, etc. on the same circuit as a heater that is running at full power, you can easily overload the circuit. It's not worth the risk as it takes a little time to verify if someone wants to read or watch a video to learn.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • There are some nuances
