Basically, I bought it as a large mouse pad. to protect the entire desktop and especially to be used as a mouse pad. Unless you turn it "suede" side up, it won't work as a mouse pad at all. And once you flip it, it won't stay in place because it's too smooth. So we keep it upside down for use (probably because it belongs to my son, not mine) but if it were up to me I would return it as it is NOT as advertised. The "top" side I'm sure is good for protection and waterproofing etc but as a mouse pad it's an epic fail and uselessness.
