The label on the bag suggested that the paint might peel if it got wet from rain or sweat, but luckily I didn't experience that. When unzipped, the reinforced opening stays open (and not as flexible as school backpacks) allowing items to easily fit inside. It costs like a paper bag. It has many internal pockets of different sizes: iPad, passport, internal zippered pocket for small items, as well as side glasses pockets and a USB port. If you travel light, you could probably use it as a holdall. I had trouble putting a water bottle in the outer side pockets because I think they are meant for the water bottles you buy in suitcases from the grocery store and not the Rubbermaid or Hydroflask types.
