First of all the camera and lens take great pictures. I had a Cannon AE1 film SLR a long time ago and apart from the difference between film and electronic imaging the operation is somewhat similar. The only notable stumbling block is that when you actually press the 'shutter button', a half press brings it into focus (in auto mode) and then a full press takes a picture. If you just press the button, there is a noticeable delay between pressing the button and the actual recording. Oh, and the manual is a PDF you have to download - crappy cheap ass made by the manufacturer I think rather than including a printed book. But that's the only downside of the camera and lens in my opinion. Takes beautiful pictures. But to really get the most out of the camera, it's not for users who want a basic point-and-shoot camera. The only reason to have a DSLR like this is to be able to use different lenses for different purposes. The lens that comes with the camera is ideal for most indoor and outdoor non-telephoto shots. If you want to shoot at long distances, you need a decent tripod and a good telephoto lens. The included accessories that I really liked are: spare battery and universal charger (AC and 12V car power). Two memory cards. A camera bag big enough for most of the included items. Remote controlled shutter (wired). Accessories that are so-so (in my opinion, of course) External flash - the camera's own flash is sufficient. Telephoto lenses and macro lenses - quality does not match the main lens. Accessories not worth the space they take up: Tripod β Too light and out of reach for anything but a tiny camera. Square Lens Hood - A dubious idea for a lens that rotates to focus. Overall the camera and lens are great! Useful accessories are useful. It's not exactly for beginners, but the learning curve isn't too bad if you're experienced with a DSLR. By the way, there is a Makenov book about this camera. Since the seller didn't seem to be asking too much for the set, it didn't bother me too much that some of the accessories just seem to be there to enhance the look of the deal. (It's like having a drawer full of cheap knives and a few good ones that you use for everything β it would be better to get rid of the crappy ones and only use the good ones.)
