The sides are very translucent
I wanted this mattress topper to hide the floral pattern on my box spring. The top is made from a lovely striped fabric and the sides are all gray mesh and it is very see through. I suspect this is because the manufacturer advertises this lid as being able to stretch up to 18 inches. Looking at the photo on the website, the pages look a lot more opaque than they really are. If you cover it with a sheet, the transparent sides don't matter; But if you plan to use it like I did, then understand that every pattern on your box spring bed is visible through the mesh.
