Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced Performance Generic Adapter Converter Optical External: Streamlined Connectivity Solution by Brad Jeffress

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Data Recovery for less than $10!

I had read other reviews before purchasing this adapter and was a little concerned if it would work with PATA would devices. However, buyers should be aware that it works with all types of hard drives: laptops, desktops, SATA, PATA (IDE). They call it. It doesn't come in a fancy box, but would you rather pay $5-$10 extra for a box? The thing is connected and works. Simply plug the adapter into a floppy drive (and turn it on if necessary) and connect the USB port to your computer. Windows 7 x64 recognized this device immediately. It will show up as a SATA/IDE to USB bridge. All drives will show up as "massive USB drives". I have tested this with desktop PATA/SATA drives as well as a laptop drive. Everything works. I have two complaints: 1. The box arrived a bit crumpled. I'm a clean freak so I love it when my package arrives sparkling clean, but I'll live with that.2. The adapter feels a little flimsy. I think the plastic is a bit cheap but only time will tell its durability. I'll just be more careful with him. Another note: don't expect to use it as an alternative to an external drive cage. This device gets a little warm. Also, without a case, you leave your drive open to the elements.

Pros
  • Supports SATA / ATA/ATAPI CD-ROM/R/RW DVD-ROM hard drive (based on ATAPI specification)
Cons
  • boring packaging
