Azden is in the lead. Everyone else follows.

LOVE THIS MIC! Good. For you wondering if you should buy Rode or Azden, let me point out a few things. First off, when people say Rode mics sound better, that's a NO. You are just different. This microphone, the Azden SMX 30, delivers broadcast quality sound. And yes, I understand that it is difficult to choose between a stereo and a mono microphone. But why settle for one and not the other when you can get the BEST of both worlds? The Azden SMX 30 is great because you can switch mics with the push of a button! And what if you need both mics but can only afford one? Why limit yourself. Now let me tell you a story that can be learned from real life. Over 30 years ago I had to write an essay for an English class. That's when I decided to write an article about how digital cameras will never outperform film cameras. Boy was I wrong! Today I only take photos with digital cameras. When mirrorless cameras came along, I didn't make the same mistake twice. I have Sony A7. And I'm glad I did. So if you're wondering what this has to do with Azden, I'll tell you. Azden may not be as famous as Rode, but you can bet I'm NOT afraid of starting new ventures with new and ever-evolving technologies. In fact, I welcome them with open arms. They offer products that either match or exceed Rode and they intend to keep fighting with very competitive prices. You see Rode will make a mic like the SMX 30 but unfortunately they can't beat Azden's price. and by then, Azden will have launched another industry-leading product. In other words. Azden is in the lead. Everyone else follows me. I am very impressed with the Azden SMX 30. I prefer NOT to use a low pass filter (unless absolutely necessary). This mic has lots of bass and the +20dB preamp makes this pup shine!
