The leather is thicker than my other belts so it looks pretty strong. It's almost 1.5 inches wide, the maximum width allowed for suits and pants. Hopefully it will fit in the belt loops as 1.25 inches is a more typical width. for classic trousers. The biggest downside to the belt is the location of the plastic ratchets. That's why I deducted a star. The plastic ratchets start 4.25 inches from the top of the strap. In other words, the strap should go through the buckle almost 4 inches before the first ratchet engages. There is a lot of belt sticking out because of the buckle unless you have taken off. Most automatic straps have ratchets that are 3.25 inches or less from the tip. If you're using an old automatic tape measure to measure where to cut, be sure to add at least an extra inch, and maybe 2 inches, just to be on the safe side first. If you are using a regular tongue and loop buckle, add at least 2 inches or even 3 inches to be safe. Otherwise the strap may be too short for the ratchet to reach the buckle and you will need to discard the strap. Also, the belt doesn't come with a plastic belt hanger, so you can hang it on a regular tie or belt clip. . in your closet is a bit of a challenge.
