This is definitely not a super hard plastic that is durable and won't flex. The clasps are tricky to close- the box is so flexible it doesn't often line up right to snap shut, and it it's a tiny bit "off", the clasps are not going to snap. That being said, the flexibility makes it good for storing things (like tiny dropper bottles of ink) that don't *exactly* fit into the box- the fact that the lid just flexes and bends at will made it so that I could store bottles in this box with the lid shut, slightly bowed.If you are looking for a super sturdy storage box that you can tilt and put in your kit to take with you, don't get this book. I wouldn't trust it staying closed. But if you need storage that can be a bit physically flexible and don't care about the fussiness of the lid being all lined up, this could be a good option.
