Review on Portable Receiver Handheld Recorder Aluminum by Dave Moody

Very impressive shortwave reception

This is a pre assembled Arduino SDR radio that works very well in the shortwave bands with the included antenna. It is equipped with a 2 inch speaker with excellent articulation in the FM band. The description is a bit misleading as you don't get worldwide reception on VHF. Whoever can invent this will be a very rich man. It offers excellent shortwave reception. I live in Tennessee and if distribution is good I can get Radio China International, Radio Havana Cuba and WWV to name a few. SO 239 to BNC adapter so I can try that with my 66" end. There were no instructions in the box, but I had no trouble figuring it out. It has a step function that can be set to 0.001, 0.005. or 0.01 kHz, an AGC/Att function, a bandwidth selection function and a mode button that can be set to LSB or USB depending on the frequency band. Find a way to have it scanned. I don't think it works. You can press the tuning button but it doesn't do anything unless you're on FM and it shows you 107.9. Battery life is great. I can listen for most of my workday without dropping below 100% and it fully recharges within minutes of that. I'm a bit disappointed with the AM/FM reception. My radio alarm clock is superior to that. However, I cannot switch off the radio because the antenna could be defective. I haven't tried it with anything other than the standard antenna. (Make sure you flip the switch on the back when listening to FM or you won't get anything.) If you're looking for a radio to listen to music, news and the weather, you might want to keep looking. If you are a shortwave enthusiast, you will most likely enjoy this radio. I.
