Revainrating 5 out of 5

TLDR: Good case for storage, organization, and easy portability (including comments on 1-star ratings).

Disclaimer: I am a disposable consumer and have no interest in the company that makes and/or sells this product. My comments are based solely on personal observations of the product in direct use. This review is exclusive to: CamKix Premium Aluminum Memory Card Case with Customizable Interior - Organize and protect your SD Cards, Micro SD Cards, Memory Sticks and Compact Flash (CF) Cards. I bought this case for one reason; to store memory cards. In other words, I won't use the cards all the time and I won't use the case for transport. At the same time, the body is strong. It arrived quickly and without delay and its packaging was a simple cardboard box that was easy to open. Content included multiple foam trays for different card configurations. It didn't have dual inserts, which could be a downside if you only wanted to keep one type of memory card for that one occasion. Foam insoles aren't sexy, but they do the job. EVA foam with card slots. The cards fit well in the cutouts and come out smoothly. The body is made from lightweight aluminum and yes, it can be prone to bending or breaking. As I said, mine serves as storage. All my cards fit very well and I feel the case performs exactly as advertised. I have reviewed all of the negative (1 star) reviews on this product and summarized my take on their concerns as follows: 1) Not waterproof or does not provide a moisture barrier: (FACT) reviews have stated that there is no moisture protection. That's right. I don't remember the product description saying it was waterproof. If you plan to scuba dive, go white water rafting, mud crawl, be in very wet areas, or leave your suitcase out in the rain, expect your cards to get wet. Common sense: do not leave in a humid environment. 2) Card Drop: (FACT) Several people have complained about card drops. The card slots are narrow, but if you insert a card and hold the case upside down, yes, the cards can fall out. This is a lidded case for a reason. It is designed for storing/carrying cards. Inserts should not be stored offline. Other products experience card issues when memory cards are removed. It doesn't have this problem. Common sense: close the case before turning it upside down and I'd rather have a loose card than one that breaks when I need it. 3) Broken Clasp: (Highly plausible/FACT) Consider why you are purchasing this item. This case is bad though. You're about to play James Bond and expect military-grade encrypted data to be stored; during a HALO jet jump over enemy territory; then crawl through caves and rivers to get to the goal; then this is not the right product for you b. In that case, it's okay if. You will be accessing the cards inside the sleeve several times a day then you need to be careful as this item is more prone to breakage at the locking tabs and then the hinges. c. This case is a BIG, if. You need a case to store maps that you access at most 3-4 times a month or want to protect your maps while hiking, this is a very good case. Its sturdy construction protects your cards from drops and bumps. 4) Limited Insertion Configurations: (FACT) The configuration is limited. Contact customer service for the product and get another insert. I see this being marketed to help the average person organize and store the various types of memory cards that have accumulated over time. Hence the great variety of assignments. The case is exactly as shown in the picture. No thrills, no frills. It closes easily, but you have to learn to open it from the side you want. Closing tabs works and is not difficult to use. These are not clasps or fasteners; It takes a little effort to gently squeeze the tab to open it. Verdict: Overall a nice, sturdy design, snug fitting inserts for storing and organizing memory cards of various sizes. Not suitable for extreme sports.
