I'm 60, but I don't share the old belief that a woman "should" have short hair after a certain age. However, on hot summer days I can't bear to wear my long hair down - it's always in braids, loose buns, ponytails, etc. I really like these hair ties and use them almost every day not only to keep my hair in place , but also adding a bit of style is much nicer than looking at a simple rubber band. You can separate the little shawl from the real scrunchie if you'd like - I never do, but it's an option if you'd like. It's a nice, soft, silky material; maybe a little wrinkle prone but I suppose you could iron the fly piece with a cold iron if you like. I haven't had them long enough to judge durability. My only complaint so far is that there is no white scrunchie included - a few more neutral colors would be a nice addition to the collection. Also, I love these things!
