There are probably half a dozen TRRS "standards". bought for renewal would have no value; the associated signals are precisely expanded. This is NOT this cable; undoubtedly the reason why many are reporting that it doesn't work. There is another class of cables (including dual-port wireless connectors) that change the pinout from one end to the other to make it easier to connect devices of different standards. They are commonly referred to as adapter cables or converters (or plugs). This is NOT this cable; undoubtedly the reason why so many others are reporting that it doesn't work. This cable swaps the "Tip" signals and adjacent "Ring 1" signals between connector and connector. There is no pair of standards whose interface conforms to this conversion, although the CTIA and OMTP standards assign left-channel audio to Tip and right-channel audio to Ring-1. For buyers whose application includes these standards, the left and right stereo channels are swapped, leading to a result that may not be obvious to the ignorant; apparently the reason why some are reporting that it actually works. It should also be noted that neither the cable socket nor the connector pins are said to be "gold-plated".
