Towards the end of May 2018 I purchased two of these supposedly 'orthopaedic' beds for my German Shepherd. By September, they were thrown in the trash as nothing more than a cheap foam-covered egg crate. While this type of foam may be suitable for small dogs, it will NOT support the weight of a giant (125lb) or large (90lb) dog. It was unfortunate that my dogs slept on a bed that really wasn't any more supportive than a cage mat, but it's incredibly difficult to find quality beds for large and giant dogs at a reasonable price. The pads immediately crumbled completely, defeating the role's purpose but increasing the seating area; lumpy and sloppy looking just the way it was. The cover on this Furhaven dog bed was washable, but we hung it out to dry to prevent shrinkage. My dogs don't dig or chew; they are slimes. You haven't done anything wrong on these beds other than sleeping and grooming. The covers will be dirty and smelly. They smelled fresh after frequent washing, but those messy saliva stains were getting more and more unpleasant. The zippers held, but it was always ridiculously tiring to put the duvet back on the bed. These beds were my first purchases from Furhaven. But no matter how many amazing beds they keep making, I don't think I would buy from this company again. Rather than recommending this product if you are looking for a TRUE memory foam orthopedic dog bed I would recommend you take a look at BarkBox's beds with the caveat that they may appear small without a pillow but will support dogs over 90 pounds . Updated 7/4/2020 to add: In addition to recommending BarkBox Orthopedic Pet Beds, I have to add that Dogs4Less Orthopedic Pet Beds are simply outstanding! Both are a nice even piece of real memory foam that has held the weight of my large senior German shepherds well.
