This is not a softer, more pliable plastic. They are of the kind that if they break and break, your child will lose an eye or injure themselves. They might be good for driving in the car and being idle, but I wouldn't recommend any kid riding a bike, running, skateboarding, etc. Also, the lenses fall out when I clean them. At the slightest pressure and "pop up" they come. Luckily, they're also making a comeback, but not what I'd expect from regular cleaning. I should note that this happened when I was cleaning them straight out of the box. Not, because they have been used or dropped. Unfortunately, the information pages are not a great way to get good measurements and they are too small for my 5 year old. She says they are too tight.
