Review on Efficient Charging Solution: PDP Gaming Energizer ๐Ÿ”Œ Dual Controller Charging System for PS5/PS4 - Black by Caroline Saunders

Revainrating 3 out of 5

That would be nice, but you really need to insert and install the controller.

It works as it should and charges as fast as any other charger I've used. The stumbling blocks, at least for me, are twofold. First, the charger uses the micro-USB ports behind the light bar on the top of the Dualshock 4, meaning you plug them in and they're laid out horizontally (NOT vertically as shown in the image). That would be nice, but inserting and properly positioning the controller is a bit of a crap and doesn't feel particularly solid or secure when seated. The second issue that annoys me the most is the LED backlighting that the charger uses. The controllers are housed in clear plastic holders with LED indicators behind them to keep you informed of charging progress. When the battery is low, the indicator is orange, when the battery is fully charged, it is blue. That would be nice too, but when the controller is docked the lights never go out and they are INCREDIBLY bright. I have blackout curtains. So when all the lights in my room are off, the room is pitch black, but with only one controller plugged into the docking station, the light output is about the same as a small lamp turned on. It's annoying enough that I can't plug in the controller while I'm sleeping, or the whole room is flooded with pale blue or orange light bright enough to keep me awake. It's okay for the price and works well enough, but if/if this one stops working I definitely won't be buying another one.

Pros
  • Well made
Cons
  • Security
