These clear Pyrex 2 cup bowls with tight fitting red plastic lids are just what I was looking for. I like to buy groceries in #10 cans and store them in smaller containers. These bowls hold 1.5 cups of beans or chili or pasta with plenty of headroom for freezer expansion. Two cups of liquid will fill them to the brim, so if you're planning on freezing 2 cups, you'll need something bigger. These measure 4.75 inches in diameter at the top outer edge, 4 inches in diameter at the bottom and are 2.25 inches high. They are simple and plain and look great on a casual table. The lid is so tight you can twist it in any direction, but it's loose and still holds. The bowls go from the freezer to the microwave, to the table and to the dishwasher with ease. They're not plastic, so I'm not concerned about toxins migrating into the food. They should last a lot longer than plastic For my needs they are a perfect size. I have bought several sets and will now be buying more as I see that they are exactly what I wanted. All advantages, no disadvantages.
