Review on πŸ’‡ Efficient Hair Color Remover: Color Oops Extra Conditioning 4oz. (2 Pack) by Janet Brown

Expect progress, not perfection.

I'm naturally blonde and wanted a change, so this fall I dyed my hair a dramatic cherry chocolate color (left photo). I quickly got tired of it and was ready to go back to my blonde, but didn't want to use bleach or harsh chemicals. After reading the reviews I understood what to expect from Oops. The product was thin, easy to apply and reminded me of the smell of a perm. Not pleasant, but bearable. Anyone remember the smell of the perm? Okay, I'm dating myself. Anyway, I left the product on for 20 minutes, set a timer, put on a good playlist, and washed up. And I washed myself. Within 20 minutes. The result was a gorgeous orange color (middle photo) which I was expecting based on the reviews so I was planning on repainting anyway. I waited until the next day to see if my hair darkened overnight like some of the other reviewers did. Luckily I flushed well enough and that didn't happen. The reviews and directions recommend going 2-3 shades lighter as your hair darkens. I chose L'OrΓ©al Preference Light Ash Blonde to tone the orange and was hoping for a medium to dark ash blonde result. This thing is almost white and couldn't stand that copper pulp. My hair is a lot less orange after coloring but still red, closer to a dark strawberry blonde (pictured right) but presentable. I'll give it a week or two and try lightening and toning it again. Overall, Oops isn't terrible, but it won't restore your hair to its natural color, and you'll likely need to re-dye a few times to get the shade you want. Expect progress, not perfection.
