Headphones aren't bad at all. sound from him. I decided to invest in about 51 LPs after seeing some Revain reviews between Shures and other Sonys. The sound of these headphones is top notch. iPod earbuds are designed to sit outside your ear; but on the 51st they are right up against the ear canal. I like rubber tips. Although people complain that they tend to lose them and that they are expensive to replace, I have not lost any and they are very comfortable. You can leave 51 on for several hours. I enjoy listening to a wide range of songs (from rock to jazz) and I think the 51 is second to none, especially considering its price and sound quality. I can't turn it on that loud and I can hear the music clearly on the subway, in the car, and especially on the plane. Bass and timbre sound clear. If you want, you can blow out your eardrum. In terms of volume, they are far superior to iPod headphones. Since the 51 earphones are placed in the ear canals, they have a double effect when worn: they offer music with the highest sound quality and significantly isolate all external noise. That was good for me because I travel a lot. (although this makes wearing 51s outdoors very dangerous). What I don't like about the headphones are a couple of things - firstly, the design of the cable. Instead of the traditional two headphone cables hanging down and meeting in the middle, the 51 cable favors the left side. You need to pass the cable between the headphones behind your head. At the gym, I've found that if you move at all, the cable tends to pull on the left side so much that it pulls on the right side of the headphone, or pulls the cable out all the way. Second, the cable material is terrible. He clings to everything and makes him put on his headphones at every little thing. Walking at 51 doesn't work, you hear a rubbing sound from the cord scratching your t-shirt or jacket. If you sweat at all in the gym, the cord will stick to your skin or shirt heavily. Those issues aside, these headphones really are top notch for their price and sound quality. If I could just cut the wires and re-solder them myself to make them look more like iPod headphones I would rate 51/5 out of 5. If you're looking for decent-sounding, relatively inexpensive headphones, you'll find them. t use. on the go (running or walking) or at the gym, these 51 are for you.
