Falls are annoying and injuries are worse. I rode a mountain bike. I had many small mistakes and 2 that had long-term consequences. In particular, I fell onto my side and ribs BEFORE putting on this chest protector. Based on the location of my injuries, I believe this armor would have reduced or prevented injuries. I don't have a 100% way of proving it other than crashing again. I can point out that one of the most popular injuries suffered by riders being thrown off their bikes is landing on their side with their elbow between the ground and their ribs. This means your elbow joint hits hard on your ribs in a concentrated area. I'm pretty sure I cracked mine in the process, or at least badly damaged it (at the embarrassing 2 mph speed). Recovery time was 6 weeks but I can still feel it months later. Hard armor would have protected me. A soft interior would soften the blow. I ordered 3 suits of armor but only this one came so there is nothing like it. Seems very well done. It fits well. He looks decent. It's vented, but it's quite generous compared to a tank top, which was my previous outfit. Airflow is reduced but can be felt slightly when moving. The padded inner lining is basically an insulator that blocks airflow and retains heat. I'm not sure if there is a way around this. You'll feel warm, but can you handle it. You have to give up a little comfort and coolness to protect yourself from life-changing trauma. It's probably worth it.
