At first the instructions say it can be cut off, but it doesn't say that the cut piece is now useless. After that, my 5m strip was completely set up and ready to go. It was disappointing when I switched it on for the first time, I could clearly see the individual LEDs inside the diffuser. From a distance it didn't look bad. Well, I've never used them for more than a 4 hour session, and I've been using them for the last 2 weeks (sometimes I didn't turn them on). All in all I used them for about 50 hours. Also, I've only ever used one color, Orange, but for the last 4 days it's gotten worse every day I turn it on. As you can see in the photos attached to this review, some parts in certain colors just turn off, and in others they are either a lower intensity of the color set that you cannot change in any way, or some other random color. which adds atmosphere on top of what looks fake. I regret every penny I spent on this stupid flick and I hope you don't buy it. If you are reading this you are wondering whether you should buy them or not, please don't. In my case I'm going to buy a solid color neon tape because it will most likely last longer than what I've seen. In conclusion, what I learned from reading the reviews first is that what you are doing is so great and most RGB lights (in the $30-$80 range at least) fail all the time. So don't buy these lights and have a nice day.
