Purpose: This review is based on my experience of replacing the daytime running lights on the roof of a 2021 FORD F350. I wanted to replace the clear roof headlight covers with smoke colored covers for a more custom look since my truck is black. Experience: When the replacement headlight covers arrived I was impressed with the design of the cover as the FORD OEM headlight cover is great and thought I could just change the lenses and get the look I wanted. As a result, the light lids do not detach from the base. This is because Ford roof marker lights have historically absorbed moisture and leaked over time. Consider replacing any original ceiling lights with smoke lights or maybe spray clay on existing OEMs to get that custom look. 2) The description of these lights says "Plug n Play". Well it isn't. Ford marker lights use a small plug to power the lights as shown in the pictures. In order to use these lights you must cut/connect them using the factory wiring harnesses. It's not difficult, it just takes a lot of time using solder and shrink wrap. 3) The base of these lights is flat, there is a hole on the back for attaching to the cab. Ford OEM marker lights use a "double tab feature" to first snap the light onto the roof and then secure it with a single machine screw. These lights are flat with a mounting hole. This causes a BIG problem: 1) These lights don't sit on the roof like the originals. When these lights are installed there is a gap in the front which opens the door to allow rain/water to hit the roof and seep inwards to the headstock. Water leakage is bad. GENERAL SUMMARY: While these lights look good and look OEM, there are a few exceptions that I wanted to write about in hopes it helps someone else. I have these headlights on my truck right now but am looking at other options as I am sure they will give me headaches in the future, will design and would love to have a backup plan. We recommend taking a look at the Partsam 264343BK headlights as they have a smoked appearance and a base that can be assembled and installed larger than OEM which means less chance of water leakage.
