Not heavy, but very, very soft and warm.
I gave it to my niece, she is 7 years old. She has had one since she was a child and I wanted to replace it. She liked it but still preferred her old one which is not so soft. I used it one night and it was very warm and soft. I couldn't stop touching the ceiling. The blanket is not heavy as described. I used to have a thicker blanket. However, this is the perfect blanket for a Florida winter. I would buy one!
