I don't have any fact checking equipment but I will say it installs easily on my BF-F8HP radio and performs at least as well if not better the original antenna. The advantage of this antenna is that it can be folded (actually several times) to make it easier to store the radio in a pocket or bag. Watching the video is a good way to demonstrate how the antenna "snaps into place" when bent and straightened. It's easy to do and doesn't leave any noticeable creases. It comes with a washer, the purpose of which I'm not sure. The red O-ring looks strictly decorative and fits into a groove in the base of the antenna.
