I bought 8. 3/8 are now dead due to using the USB port. I found an issue with NO WARNINGS. DO NOT use the USB port IF you have batteries installed. This lamp is NOT a USB device (battery backed up), it is either USB >OR< batteries, NEVER both. My guess is that with the batteries installed, the lamp circuitry is getting 4.5VDC when the 5V USB plug is plugged into a wall outlet. The voltage source is not a switch, it adds +9V to the circuit overvoltage and kills components in the circuits. There are no instructions or warnings about this. It's either a bad design or the power circuit lacks detail. How do we know - we can't. Bad communication with bad design. CAUTION Test/MFG Engineer MS
