Rivets are too soft
I have pants that are otherwise good but have thin plastic buttons sewn on. I got them to replace these, but installation isn't always easy. The metal the rivets are made of is too soft as others have said and often bends when installed. This is especially true if the material is hard and you need to push the rivet through first. If you can push it through, which would normally require me to cut a hole that I don't think is ideal and hammer it in, then that's good, but it's often easier said than done.
