Review on πŸ“± Enhanced Black ZAGG Folio Case with Backlit Bluetooth Keyboard for 1st Generation Apple iPad Mini by Richard Gilbert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good price but not for thicker iPad mini models

The most important thing is that it is NOT designed for iPad mini with 4G support. The case snaps firmly onto the back of the thinner versions of the iPad mini, but it just can't be persuaded to stretch and trim the top and corners of the 4G or thicker models. What I like is the low price and the backlit keyboard, as well as the increased number and size of the keys. . For those using SSH terminal applications, you'll like the dedicated <CTRL> key in addition to the Apple <CMD> key. What I don't like so much is the somewhat strange selection of characters that are called with <FN> or <FN>-<Shift>. The backlight works reasonably well, but cuts the runtime from 2-3 months to 7-10 days - keep a micro USB cable handy. BTW, I'm using this with a 4G iPad mini, but it needed a bit of trimming around the edges and some 3M double-sided foam tape to make it secure. Oh, did I say it's CHEAP? Maybe because it's an older model, but for under $20 I'm not complaining - I use it.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Can't remember
