I do makeup for portraits of all ages, and older women always comment on their closed eyes. Sometimes it works amazingly and sometimes I'm frustrated. It is best to apply eye primer first, then apply tape and apply eyeshadow over it. Sometimes you can see the tape when looking down, but for photos it doesn't matter. I think with your eyes very closed you wouldn't see it. Sometimes it takes time to adjust in the right place while others do the taping/makeup. Do not reuse, just get a new strip. I think it would be a quick learning curve for myself.
