Good shelves but poor quality fittings and unused instructions

These are good shelves for the money. The bevels are far from perfect, but they are worth the money - so I'm satisfied. There I had a problem - plastic drywall anchors are utter nonsense. If you drill a hole small enough to hold them securely, they will collapse when you try to insert them. If you drill a hole big enough that you can install them without damaging them unusably, they'll just twist and unscrew when you try to screw something in. The cost of better anchors is probably measured in microcents. Why they didn't pick up just the best anchors is a mystery. After arranging the mess, filling in the original holes and redrawing the whole thing, I took a few of my own dowels and screws and all went without a hitch. I used anchors and 1/4" #8 screws (see picture). . Finally, an installation note - When installing the screws into the dowels, tighten the screw fully (not too tight - about two full turns after hitting the dowel flange ) so the plastic flange is flush with the wall and (although we can't see how this happens) to spread the back of the drywall anchor. Then loosen the screw about 1/2 inch to finally install the shelf. This allows the shelf to fit snugly against the wall, providing extra grip on the anchors and keeping wobble to a minimum. The instructions that come with these shelves are pretty terrible and it took a bit of trial and error on my part. Am not a carpenter, but not a drug addict either. In short, the shelves are fine, but use your own drywall anchors and matching screws.
