My daughter is tall and slim and in between sizes - 4/5 is too small, 6 is often too big. This dress is perfect! A bit of room to grow but not big at all and not too big. So I think it's a bit big, but it suits her. The fabric is soft and breathable but not see-through. This would be perfect for a very hot East Coast Independence Day.
